I’m sure there are a lot of people that are wondering what that title means. Here’s the short of it: One lives in the dark while the other one lives only in the daylight. They are both medical conditions that affect people that have worked different shifts throughout their working lives.
For example, if you have spent years getting up at 5:00 every morning, more than likely you will do the same thing when you stop working. The same thing goes for someone that sleeps until 8:00 pm to wake up for a midnight shift. It is not that the midnight people are “lazy” during the day. It just that they are not sleeping at the same time as someone that has always been a “day person.” In a lot of cases, the midnighters are going to bed when the Sunsetters are waking up.
The thing is that sunsetters usually hit their beds as soon as the sun goes down. When it’s dark, they go to bed. In the daylight, they do everything that they need to do. The opposite is usually true of the midnighters. They are at their best after the sun goes down. They are alert and awake, not being able to sleep.
Put one of each in the same home for some time and you will see those differences rather quickly. It is not the fault of one or the other. It is the fault of society and the necessity to work the shifts that are dictated by an employer. But it has to be said that sometimes those shifts are the preference of the person. No matter which way it is, there are differences between those two types of people, whether it is physical, mental or medically proven.
