There are times in life when a merry-go-round sounds so simple. You can jump on a horse or other character that goes around in a circle until the vendor says it’s time to quit. It goes up and down and you hear the carnival music that goes with it. It’s fun. It’s tame. It’s safe. But for some of us, it isn’t that simple, but rather the memories that we have of the real animals that are depicted on that ride. (more…)
There are times that you have to wonder what your soul really says about you. Does it ever really reveal itself to other people? I would guess that it doesn’t always come out of the corner it hides in. Usually, it hides under a blanket that says, “I don’t care,” or one that says “Go away.” But what are the thoughts that are under that blanket? (more…)
I recently watched a television show about “Gypsies” and the nomadic life that they have. Quite frankly, the excitement of going from place to place and seeing so many different things seemed to be a great way to live. But then I had to wonder how they make a living. Tick-tock. Tick-tock. I can hear that clock on the wall every minute of every day. It counts away the seconds, minutes and hours that I have left in my life. But it didn’t used to be that way. There was a time in my life when that clock meant that I had so much time to get done what I wanted to do. I could mow the yard, play games with the kids, and still romance the wife a bit. We always had dinner together. I had the time to say goodnight to the precious children that my wife and I had brought into the world. But those times have changed. And I really don’t know why. I’m sure there will be some comments from some men on this one, but you cannot underestimate the strength of a woman. In a lot of homes, it’s the woman that takes care of the finances, takes care of the children, and even does some of the repairs and yard work. Not to mention the laundry, cooking, cleaning, and planning for the family activities.
Got your attention, didn’t I? Look around your home. If you’re a married man or living with your significant other you have to realize what they put into the home. There are times that they feel unappreciated and taken advantage of. But there is a cure for that. (more…)
